Come heat, I want the juiciest fruit imaginable, in as many forms possible, available at all times. Few fruits deliver the juicy punch that melons do, in all their exquisite forms. Though watermelon is the ubiquitous choice for summer fun, cantaloupe has a subtler, more tender flavor that shines when blended. Combined here with mint, lime juice, and sparkling water, it soothes nerves frazzled by the summer sun.
As cantaloupe hydrates, the flavor and scent of mint will immerse you in ease, calming the mind and awakening the senses. This is the perfect combo for a light afternoon spritzer or an easy happy hour addition—it can be served up as is, or with the alcohol of your choice. It’s also easy to make in larger batches, and pack with you for a day at the beach or a picnic.
And yes, you can make it with any melon you like! It’s not overly sweet, so feel free to add the sweetener of your choice as desired.

- 2 tablespoons lime juice (from about 1 lime)
- 3 ice cubes, cracked
- 4-5 mint leaves, or more to taste
- 2/3 cup sparkling water
Directions
Place chilled cantaloupe, lime juice, and ice cubes in a blender and blend until smooth. Add mint leaves, and blend until they’re flecks, 5-10 seconds.
