There they are: the client who can’t be satisfied, the friend who cancels every plan last-minute, the relative who won’t budge from a lifetime pattern that triggers you every time. You’ve tried every workaround, drafted convincing arguments, dug up new tactics to facilitate communication— but none of your efforts are causing change. This often happens when energy is high, deadlines are close, and the mind seduces us into prioritizing stress over ease.
So what’s left?
Nothing.
Literally, try nothing.
Put it down. Step away. Look at the trees. Sit back and observe. Entertain the possibility that the mind will not reveal the way through. Crack an inner smile at your overexertions. Find faith in the simple existence of this moment. For just one breath, or ten.
Perhaps we are blocking the peace we crave by our very efforts to change what presents itself to us as a blockage. Perhaps it’s okay that this moment is awkward, or triggering, or thorny, before resolving itself through an unseen grace and leading you through an invisible door whose key is presence. Perhaps there is nothing we can control in the first place, or the answer we seek is simply awaiting a more open heart.
Life is wild, with a force and flow of its own. Try nothing.
